You know when you’re writing an email, press send and then immediately regret it?  Well, this post is how to recall it once it’s been sent in Gmail….. for all you partygoers out there who think it’s a good idea to go online after a few vinos 🙂

Firstly, you need to go into the settings menu in your Gmail account, by clicking on the “cog” in the top right corner and selecting Mail settings.

You then need to go into the Labs tab in your settings, which lists all enabled and available labs in alphabetical order.

You need to scroll down to one called “Undo Send” and make sure it’s enabled – if it isn’t, just tick the enable box next to it, then press save (at the bottom of the page).

This then allows you to recall the email after you’ve hit send.  Be warned though, you only have 10 seconds to undo the action as that’s it’s default time.  If you want to change this, you can do (phew!).  Again, you need to go into mail settings by clicking the cog, and stay in the General tab.  You will see about the 7th section down, is one called Undo Send with an option for choosing the cancellation period – just select how long you want to have to undo the action after sending – happy days 🙂

After you send an email, you’ll see at the following at the top of the page:

Just click on Undo, and it will cancel the send (as long as you’ve pressed it within the time you chose), it then re-opens the email for you to change, save, discard or send again.

I hope you find this as handy as I have 🙂
